Technical Programme IMI
IMI is an official technical specialty of the Republic of Benin's education system, part of the Sciences et Techniques Industrielles (STI) track.
Installation et Maintenance Informatique (IMI) prepares students for direct entry into the IT workforce through a practice-focused, three-year technical curriculum.
What is IMI?
IMI stands for Installation et Maintenance Informatique (Computer Installation and Maintenance). Students learn to install, configure, and maintain the computing systems, networks, and equipment that businesses and homes depend on every day.
What students learn
- Hardware assembly and integration
- System troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Software installation, updates, and management
- Network configuration (Active Directory, Windows and Linux systems)
- System security verification
- Technical English
Programme structure
Seconde
Foundations in mathematics, databases, networking, and professional ethics.
Première
Deeper technical study across networking, programming, and legislation.
Terminale
Final-year specialisation, culminating in the mandatory DT IMI examination.
Career opportunities
Certification & progression
Graduates earn the Diplôme de Technicien (DT) in IMI, and can go on to pursue professional licences and master's degrees in computing and information technology.
